Title: Post-Brexit recommendations
Text: "I would like to suggest the following recommendations to Labour:
UK membership of the EU’s European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, including for example, membership of the EU’s Pandemic and Early Warning System, European Epidemic Intelligence Information System and the European Medicines Agency - particularly so the UK doesn't receive a COVID-19 vaccine later than the rest of Europe.
Full participation in the EU's clinical trials system and procurement schemes, continuation of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) scheme and the government joining the EU's coordination conference calls between EU health ministers
Future post-Brexit relationship:
Labour argue for as close as possible relationship with the EU post-Brexit. In other words, single market and EU Customs Union membership, free movement and dynamic alignment with the EU when it comes to consumer, food and environmental standards, workers’ rights and human rights etc.
UK participation in EU research (e.g. Horizon 2020) and structural and investment funds (e.g. European Regional Development Fund), satellite systems (e.g. Galileo), police cooperation (e.g. EU Arrest Warrant) student exchanges (e.g. Erasmus+), European agencies (e.g. European Chemicals Agency), schemes (e.g. Pet Travel Scheme) and in other practical and beneficial EU arrangements.
EU citizens' rights:
EU citizens residing in the UK be given a physical document they can use to prove their pre-settled or settled status, as the digital system makes it particularly difficult for EU citizens to prove their right to work to prospective employers, and is deeply flawed in other respects.
If it were the party of government, Labour turn the settled status scheme into a registration scheme so that EU citizen's right to remain in the UK is granted automatically, as the Vote Leave campaign promised and Boris Johnson, Michael Gove and Priti Patel all specifically pledged, before subsequently reneging on it.
EU citizens be allowed to vote in future UK general elections and referendums and continue to be able to vote and stand as candidates in municipal elections e.g. local, mayoral etc"
