    The Labour Movement for Europe, the Labour Party’s only affiliate organization dedicated to rebuilding our nation’s relationship with Europe. Following a substantial growth in membership and influence, it is expanding and recruiting for two roles ahead of the forthcoming general election. Both roles are primarily based in Westminster and involve working closely with our Chair, Stella Creasy MP and our Executive overseen by our Honorary Secretary Giampi Alhadeff. At a time of high interest in the future of the UKs relationship with the European Union post Brexit, these posts represent a critical opportunity to help develop and shape a future Labour Governments policy making on European Affairs.

    On Monday 6th February the Retained EU Law (REUL) Bill was presented to the House of Lords. This follows its passage through the House of Commons, where a cross party campaign led by the Labour Movement for Europe gained Conservative support for amending the Bill including from David Davis, Bob Neill, and Robert Buckland MP. This briefing provides a background update on this legislation and what the LME is doing to ensure that Parliamentary sovereignty is not a casualty of Brexit.

    On Wednesday 18th January the Retained EU Law Bill came before the House of Commons for its final reading before being passed to the Lords. This was the last chance MPs had to stop or amend the Bill. During the debate, our Chair, Stella Creasy asked the simple question of the Government, what laws will this Bill delete?
